Who are the most influential Portuguese celebrities on Instagram?

Social networks are one of the favourite channels used by celebrities and also by brands. The Social Influence Report prepared by Primetag reveals that Cristiano Ronaldo is the celebrity whose number of followers is the highest with over 120 million.

The second celebrity on this ranking is the football player Pepe, with around 7 million followers. Right after him is the super model Sara Sampaio with 6.3 million followers. Sara Sampaio is the only woman on the top of this ranking that is dominated by personalities associated to the world of football.

The most popular picture of a Portuguese user on Instagram is the birth of Cristiano Ronaldo daughter, with more than 11 million “Likes”. The picture with more engagement was shared by the artist singer Salvador Sobral, after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017.

This study analysed the Instagram accounts of Portuguese people in Portugal, or in their countries, and foreigners living in Portugal, with a minimum of 40 thousand followers.
