Tapio has been working in Washington for 20 years, helping foreign companies, international organizations, and U.S. companies to understand and respond to U.S. legislative and policy initiatives and to position themselves favourably with elite U.S. audiences, the U.S. Government, media, and other stakeholders. Tapio works with clients from a diverse range of industries to take advantage of opportunities in the U.S. market, to react to U.S. legislative and federal initiatives, and to build key relationships that can help advance clients’ interests in the U.S. and globally. Prior to joining Kreab, Tapio worked in the Washington, D.C. office of the international law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer and Feld, helping U.S. companies to enter, defend, and promote themselves in the international marketplace, and assisting foreign companies to do the same in Washington. Tapio holds a B.A. in International Relations and Russian from James Madison University and an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland. He speaks Swedish, Finnish, Russian, and Spanish. He is a member of the Trans-Atlantic Business Council, the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in Washington, and a regularly featured speaker to foreign audiences and business groups on the business of lobbying in Washington.
