Mr. Terzi is a former Italian career diplomat, serving as Italy’s Ambassador to e.g. France, Israel and the U.S. He started his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome, where he served as a protocol officer assigned to visits abroad by Italian government officials. Mr. Terzi moved back and forth from Rome, in which he among others worked in Canada as Economic and Commercial Counsellor, and at NATO in Brussels, serving as Political Adviser to the Italian Mission to the North Atlantic Council. Later in his career, Mr. Terzi worked both as First Counsellor for Political Affairs and as Minister and Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Italy to the EU. From 2008 to 2009 he was the Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations in New York. He has also served as Deputy Secretary-General, Director General and Political Director at the Minister for Foreign Affairs in Rome, where his responsibilities included major international security and political issues. More recently, he was named Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Monti-Government in Italy, but after two years he decided to resign in 2013.
