Kreab welcomes Dr Danuta Huebner to its senior team in Brussels

Dr Danuta Huebner has joined Kreab as Senior Advisor, supporting Kreab’s global public affairs practice in Brussels.

Dr Danuta Huebner joins Kreab’s senior team following a distinguished career in politics, public administration, and academia. A politician and professor of economics, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the European Union for over three decades. She was European Commissioner for Trade and Regional Policy, a Member of the European Parliament, and a senior government official in Poland, contributing to the country’s transition to democracy and a market economy.

In Poland, she held several high-ranking positions, including Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, Minister for European Affairs, leading the process of Poland’s accession to the European Union, and Head of the Chancellery of the President of Poland. She was also Poland’s chief negotiator for accession to the OECD, preparing the country for greater integration into global economic institutions. Beyond Europe, she served as UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva.

In the European Parliament, Dr Huebner was a Rapporteur on major capital market legislations. She was member of the Committees on Economic and Monetary Policy, International Trade, Constitutional Affairs, and Regional Policy. She was as well member of special committees on Financial, Economic and Social Crisis; Policy Challenges and Budgetary Resources for a Sustainable European Union; Tax Rulings and Other Measures Similar in Nature or Effect.
With extensive experience in EU-US relations, Brexit, and Ukraine’s EU accession process, Dr Huebner brings invaluable expertise to Kreab’s global public affairs practice in Brussels.

Commenting on Dr Huebner’s new role at Kreab, Tuomas Tierala, Brussels Office Managing Partner, said:

“We are very excited to be able to collaborate with such remarkable people at Kreab. Dr Huebner is someone we have worked with in Brussels for 20 years across her senior roles in the Commission and Parliament. Her judgment and insights will be invaluable to the Kreab team and can help us to provide the best possible advice to clients on the direction and dynamics of the European Union. Her guidance will help us in Brussels and Poland but also internationally given her long experience on international affairs within the government in Poland and within the European institutions.”

Dr Huebner comments: “I am joining colleagues at Kreab in a moment when, under our watch, the unpredictability of the world is skyrocketing and the international rules-based system aims at fragility and disorder. Fortunately, globalization has not disappeared but national interests enter the policy space with a great force. Europe has strengthened its capabilities to cope with what is unpredictable and divisive, and it is reinventing itself linking its foreign policy with domestic priorities. I also hope that in this world of uncertainty there are opportunities for business cooperation across different markets, there are reasons to be proactive and positive, there are lots of doors that can be opened, and there is rationale to sit and make deals because there are common interests.”
