KREAB Worldwide and Adl Consulting hosted the event “The European Union after the vote: The priorities of the next Commission”
Yesterday, on Tuesday, October 29, the event “The European Union After the Vote: Priorities of the Next Commission” was held at the Centro Studi Americani in Rome, organized by public affairs and strategic consulting firms KREAB Worldwide and Adl Consulting. The event featured the presence of the Vice President of the Italian Senate, Gian Marco Centinaio, as well as Members of the Parliament Elisabetta Gardini and Luigi Marattin.
The event provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges the new European Commission will face in the new mandate and the role that Italy will play in this context.
The event opened with institutional greetings from Roberto Sgalla, Director of the Centro Studi Americani, who highlighted the central importance of the topic on the political agenda. Following this, Claudio Di Mario, founding partner of Adl Consulting, and Alberta Laschena, partner at KREAB Worldwide, spoke about the need to enhance the industrial competitiveness of the EU , particularly in the fields of energy and innovation, and to foster a fair and inclusive approach in the development of public policies.
The Vice President of the Senate, Gian Marco Centinaio, emphasised the importance of restoring the centrality of politics in decision-making: “The European Parliament must regain its role as a decision-maker and its ability to anticipate the problems faced by citizens. We need to return to a context where the representatives of European citizens have a say.”
MP Elisabetta Gardini focused her remarks on the institutional priorities that will need to be addressed in this legislative term: “Europe must return to its foundational principles, inherent in its nature, even if it no longer adheres to them. The self-interest of member states is clear to all, and the challenge is to represent collective interests, reaching solutions that do not harm any country.”
MP Luigi Marattin proposed a revision of the institutional framework: “The priorities for the European Commission over the coming years are very clear and can be summed up in two words: ceding sovereignty. In the near future, no European country will be able to compete in global markets alone. This should imply a European sovereignty; without it, we won’t get very far.”
The event provided an opportunity to continue the collaboration between public affairs and strategic consulting firms KREAB Worldwide and Adl Consulting. This partnership aims to develop shared synergies to promote mutual growth within the European market.
