Godfried is a leading figure in the financial services regulatory and public policy industry, most recently as Head of European Affairs at NEX Group (formerly ICAP), and since 1999 Chairman of ICMA’s European Repo and Collateral Council. Before this he worked for 17 years with Fortis as Global Funding Co-ordinator. Throughout his career he has been a member of various official working groups such as the ECB Contact Group on Euro Securities Infrastructures; the ECB Macroprudential Policies and Financial Stability Contact Group; and the ESMA Secondary Markets Standing Committee Consultative Working Group.
Commenting on the new cooperation, David Reed, Senior Partner said: “We are really excited by the prospect of working with Godfried, with whom we have all worked closely over many years – particularly on financial markets infrastructure regulation. Godfried brings a unique set of experiences to our Brussels team, with deep relationships across the EU, with policymakers, supervisors, central bankers and in the financial sector.”
Godfried De Vidts comments: “At this crucial time when there is a changing of the guard at the European Commission, European Parliament and ECB and with the digitization of markets starting in earnest, an increased focus on this policy agenda amongst other topics is unavoidable. Working with KREAB will be of particular interest to the front, post trade and back office functions of their buy & sell-side clients and I look forward to supporting their work with financial markets infrastructures.”
