Shurjil Syed

Shurjil is a Chief Marketing & Communications Officer with 23 years of diverse experience across the Energy, Technology, Engineering, Consulting, and Consumer Goods industries.

He has held leadership roles at the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Acwa, IBM, Siemens, ABB, Accenture, and Unilever.

In his role with the PIF as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, he was a member of the C-suite for a PIF Portfolio Company globally in the Energy, Utilities and Renewables sector.

As Vice President and Global Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Acwa, he led the company’s brand, marketing and communications strategy in 15 countries across Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia.

For six years, he led ABB’s positioning as Title Partner of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship from the inaugural race in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia in 2018 – the world’s first fully electric international FIA motorsport series.

Raised in Los Angeles, California, he spent his earlier career in California before relocating to Saudi Arabia, where he has lived for two decades. He is fluent in Arabic and has deep cross-cultural understanding of the U.S., Saudi, and broader Middle East markets.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and attended Boston University School of Management for a full-time MBA program in Marketing, Strategy and General Management.
