Senior Advisor
Martyn is a former UK Foreign Office career Diplomat with a successful track record in senior corporate leadership roles, including until March 2023 as Governor of the Cayman Islands, a British Overseas Territory. He served as Minister/Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in China from 2015-2018 responsible for a dispersed team of 800 across 5 Diplomatic posts. He was British Ambassador with a team of 80 in Algeria where he was awarded the OBE in 2013 for his leadership of the UK response to a major terrorist attack. Martyn has also served in Brazil (Deputy Ambassador), Pakistan, Iran, Kuwait, Mozambique and Iraq for 5 months after the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990. He was First Secretary Economics/Development at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris in the early 2000s. He worked in London on UK policy in international organisations (UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, Commonwealth). He speaks French and Brazilian Portuguese and limited Chinese.
