Daniel Fuentes

Daniel Fuentes held from June 2018 to January 2020 the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Affairs of the Presidency of the Government (Economic Office of the President), as Head of the Macroeconomic and Financial Policies Unit, later assuming the Directorate-General of Economic Information, until May 2021.

Daniel Fuentes Castro has a PhD in Economics from the Université Paris – Nanterre, where he also studied a DEA in Environmental Economics and Natural Resources, after graduating in Economic and Business Sciences at the University of Vigo (with a double specialty, in Public Economics and in Industrial Economics). Fuentes has been a researcher at INRA Paris, Cemagref Bordeaux and at the OECD, in Paris. He is accredited by ANECA and by the French Ministry of Education as “Maître de Conférences”.

Fuentes has been a professor at the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Vigo (2005-2007) and at the Department of Fundamentals of Economic Analysis at the University of Zaragoza (2007-2010), as well as an associate professor at the Université Paris III – Sorbonne Nouvelle (2011-2014). He has worked as a senior economist at the Bank of France (2010-2013) and has been a consultant and head of macroeconomic analysis at Analistas Financieros Internacionales (AFI) between 2015 and 2018.
