January 23th, 2019 Kreab, a communications and public affairs consultancy firm founded in Sweden in 1970, strengthens its leadership in the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market during 2018, according to the ranking developed by Mergermarket, the Acuris company. Mergermarket has counted 26 transactions advised by Kreab last year, which positions the Swedish consultancy company in first place in the Spanish ranking by number of operations. Thus, Kreab joins the 20 leading communication consultancies in M&A consulting in Europe by number of operations.

In addition to what was identified in the ranking carried out by Mergermarket, Kreab advised on a large number of financial operations throughout 2018 in sectors such as banking, industrial, real estate and asset management, which highlights the great dynamism of the Spanish economy. In this vein, private equity firms continued to show intense activity last year in Spain, reaching 26,700 million euros in 99 transactions according to Mergermarket, a sign of the strength of a sector that is among Kreab’s areas of expertise.

In relation to IPOs, and despite the fact that in 2018 activity has been limited, Kreab has participated in some of the most relevant operations that have taken place in Spain, highlighting those of Metrovacesa and AmRest.

Carmen Basagoiti, Managing Partner of Kreab Spain: “Investor interest in Spain continues to translate into the execution of important operations in which the correct management of communication is key to success. We are very pleased to have a flagship team of professionals both in Spain and internationally in financial communication and, specifically, in advising on M&As”.

From Eugenio Martinez Bravo, Executive Vice President of Kreab Worldwide and President and CEO of Kreab Spain: “Our leadership in financial communication management and in areas such as public affairs drives our growth, with a team that already exceeds 100 professionals in Spain. Our goal is to extend this leadership and knowledge in these practices to the rest of Kreab’s offices in the 25 countries where we operate with special focus in Latin America.”
