  • Kreab leads the 2017 Spanish ranking of Mergermarket with 18 M&A operations
  • In total, the international consultant advised 41 financial transactions in Spain in the past year

March 6, 2018. Kreab, an international Communication, Reputation and Public Affairs consulting firm, has consolidated its leadership in the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market during 2017, according to the ranking prepared by Mergermarket, the Acuris Group company. Specifically, Mergermarket has accounted for 18 transactions advised by Kreab, which positions the international group in first place in the Spanish ranking by number of operations.

Beyond operations accounted for by Mergermarket, Kreab has advised on a further 23 corporate transactions throughout 2017. For that matter, a large number of operations have been concentrated mainly in sectors such as real estate, asset management, banking and industry.

The high activity in the real estate sector corroborates the investor appetite for this type of asset in our country. In the same way, the attractive growth prospects of the Spanish economy have boosted the number of operations carried out by private equity firms, another of Kreab’s main areas of expertise. 2017 has been a record year in Spain for this sector, with nearly 12,000 million euros invested in our country by these types of firms, according to Mergermarket.

In addition, it is worth noting Kreab’s advice in the field of IPOs during 2017. The consultant once again positioned itself as leader, by participating in two of the three major operations of the year: Neinor Homes and Gestamp.

Carmen Basagoiti, Managing Partner of Kreab in Spain, said: “The increase in the volume of investment and the number of operations during 2017 is a clear example of the economic recovery of our country, something that was also evident in the interest generated around the IPOs of last year. A good communication strategy is key to the success of these operations and we are very pleased to have a leading team on a national level.”
